The big weekend was this past one, tho'. Friday night I saw John Q, which was much better than I thought it would be, thanks almost entirely to what I thought was an amazing performance by Denzel Washington, as well as some exceptionally well done moments of suspense. Saturday I saw Collateral Damage, and, well, it wasn't ten pounds of suck in a five pound bag, but I've =definitely= seen better action flicks. I wish Ah-nuld would give us a full on, balls to the wall, level everything in sight, triple-digit body count old-school action flick again, instead of this happy family man forced to kick somebody's ass crap he's been foisting on us for the past few years. He's got maybe another couple of years left before he won't be believable as any kind of action hero, and I'd like to see the big guy go out on top.
Sunday night I saw Brotherhood of the Wolf, and it's one of the best movies I've ever seen. Well developed plot and characters, nice, tight pacing, beautiful cinematography, wonderful acting, some of the most amazing costumes and sets and locations that I can remember seeing in a film (and make no mistake about it, this is a film, not a movie), absolutely stunning fight scenes, incredible special effects -- I'd keep going but I'm running out of adjectives. Can you tell I liked it?
