Self-Portrait 3

(no subject)

There's a pirated copy of Halo 2 floating around. Wow. I'm honestly surprised it took this long. I wouldn't want to be the morons responsible for this, tho'. Think about it. Microsoft's legal department beat an antitrust effort by the government to break them up. These people have the money and legal know-how to beat the United States government. And now the only thing they care about is finding the poor idiot who stole their game. I can think of several people I'd rather be right now than that guy, and a couple of them are dead.

You know, I'm a grown man. I'm an adult. I should know better than to turn my headphones up so loud that the hihats sting my eardrums.

I really should.

Zoo pictures and fried dough.

Fairly good day today. I managed to make it to kendo after work, and I got in a couple of pretty good matches with Shu. After kendo me, Shelli, Amy, Summer, Heath, JoJo, Amy's cousin Heather, and some cat named Shaw went to the fair. Amy's cousin Heather acts just like her, which is funny because Amy's a good Southern girl who's pasty white with a huge mop of fire-red curls, born and raised her whole life here in Tuscaloosa, but she opens her mouth and she's pretty close to being the most ghetto person I know. Nobody else seems to get it, but I find the juxtaposition rather hilarious.

Shelli and I have been discussing the nature of our fears for the majority of this week, so she made me come up on the ferris wheel with her and JoJo. I think that's the first time I've ever felt relaxed more than six feet off the ground without something solid under my feet. After the ferris wheel all eight of us swarmed the bumper cars and had ridiculously immature fun for a few minutes, then we went and ate unhealthy fair food and made fun of the fair folk. While I'm on the subject, does anyone know the proper term for fair workers? They're not carnies, because carnivals and fairs aren't the same thing. Shelli says we can't call them "fair folk", because those are faeries. Anyway, I had a thickly greasy corn dog and a nice sized funnel cake (which Summer for some reason insists on referring to as a "fried dough"; which I guess is accurate enough, but still), both of which are still sitting in the pit of my stomach like a rough, heavy, "I came from the fair" rock.

For your viewing pleasure today, we've got a few pictures from the Atlanta Zoo. Shelli took two of these and I took the other one. See if you can guess which is which. And no fair peeking ahead!

You know, every time I pop Weezer's blue album in my cd player, I realize I've forgotten just how damn good this thing is. There's not a bad song on the whole disc.
