Self-Portrait 3

A completely meaningless post about my armor, just so I can be lazy and not put up my laundry.

Collapse ) These are my leather wristbands that I bought at MegaCon in Orlando, back in February or March of I believe '98. Dave, please correct me if I'm wrong about the year. My first pieces of armor, that I bought solely because I thought they were cool as shit. I saw them and I really liked them, and I picked them up on the spur of the moment. That was my first time a convention, and I was sort of overwhelmed by the dealer's room and I figured I'd never get another chance to buy stuff like that. Now that I think on it, I'm pretty sure I got them the first they we were there and I put them on as soon as I could. A kid in a candy store, me. I wore those things for so long I can tell which one goes on my right arm and which one goes on my left by looking at them; I still wear them more often than not. I'd be wearing them now except my new stuff needs to be broken in. But after a while, I decided I wanted something bigger.

Collapse ) I picked these up about a year and a half ago on from a guy who sells his stuff on ebay. They're bigger than my first pair, but the leather is about the same thickness, which makes them sort of flimsy feeling. They're not nearly as substantial as they look and I don't like them very much. If anyone likes them I'm more than willing to polish them up for you and part with them.

Collapse ) I got these about four months ago, from the same guy. They're 9 oz. leather, so they're thicker than my old ones. Heavy and solid and at the moment farily inflexible and every once in while more than a touch uncomfortable. They'll be fine once they get broken in, which will probably take a while.

Collapse ) This is all three of them together, so you can see what I mean about some being heavier than the others. Notice the difference between my new stuff and the failed replacement pair.

I was looking around at different websites a couple days ago and absolutely fell in love with these. They will be mine. Oh yes. They will be mine.
