Spent a little time at the bookstore on Sunday, where I purchased --
A Bantam Books collection of two of the Nero Wolfe novels -- I've never read any of them before, and I've been meaning to for as long as I can remember. I specifically decided to go on and buy the collection when I saw that it had the first Nero Wolfe story in it (bonus!), and then found out while reading the introduction that Rex Stout specifically wrote the stories so it wouldn't matter what order you read them in (no bonus!).
JLA: New World Order -- A small volume collecting the first four issues of the JLA relaunch that Grant Morrison did back in '96. Which I purchased largely because I've always been huge Flash fan, and there's a four-page sequence where the Flash both (1) is completely bad-ass, and (2) pays such a deep and abiding respect to Barry Allen and the Flash legacy that it brought a tear to my eye.
The Immortal Iron Fist vol. 2: The Seven Capital Cities of Heaven -- I loaned the first of the Iron Fist trades to Luke, and he didn't appear to be as enamored of it as I am. His central complaint seemed to be (and please correct me if I'm wrong, sir) that Danny Rand is a little too much of a whiny emo git for someone whose superpower is hitting things until they don't work anymore. This is a valid complaint, and I agree completely. For me, however, Danny's whining is mostly offset by things like Misty Knight expressing her admiration of Colleen Wing with the phrase "I love that crazy white girl so much I could holla."
Also: Wu Ao-Shi, the Pirate Queen of Pinghai Bay, who I would marry if it were even remotely possible for me to do so.
Holy shit. I didn't even know I =had= an Amazon.com profile.
Let alone that you can actually do things with it.
