Self-Portrait 3
Here is what I really hope is a fake picture of the PlayStation 3. I'm hoping it's a fake because while the design of the box itself is very, very nice, it has "Playstation 3" written across the front in the same font they use for the Spider-Man movies, which is just... lame.

If it's real I can deal with that part, but that controller... ugh. The reason the Playstation controller has been almost unchanged for more than a decade is because from an ergonomic standpoint it's very nearly perfect. This thing looks like the only time it had any contact with ergonomics was to hit it in the face with a rock.

Actually, the controller looks very ergonomical to me. Your wrists won't be locked when manipulating L1/R1 etc. due to the cuvature. The long arms will let you prop it on something, which is excellent for me when playing something like Soul Calibre. I like the look of it and think I'd be satisfied, and you know how picky I am. Interestingly, it does look a lot like the bat-controller, only with the buttons spaced apart better.

That does look like the Spiderman font, but at least it's a cool font. And the font could easily change over the next year.

Oh, have you seen the USA Today article. You probably know all that stuff already. Damn that thing's going to be impressive. And best of all, I'll be able to play Pitball and Twisted Metal II on it.

I don't know. The curve on it just looks way too severe to allow you to grip it and still be able to comfortably access the d-pad, buttons, shoulder buttons, and thumbsticks all at the same time. Of course, it could just be that the angle's just bad for me. The original PS controller doesn't actually look like much either, now that I think about it. You don't really realize the brilliance of the thing until you pick it up.

Yes, the specs look DAMN impressive, but I'll believe it when I see it. The PS2 was supposed to blow the Xbox out of the water in terms of graphics and processing power and we saw how that turned out. Still, guaranteed backwards compatibility to the first generation is pretty damn sweet. Speaking of which, do you have Masters of Teras Kasi? I thought I had it but I can't find it. I can't find my damn memory card, either.

Also, did I say "curve"? I meant "arc".
