-- In all seriousness, I think I'm going to head down to comcast tomorrow and inform them that since they're no longer providing me with any service, I'm going to stop providing them with money. From where I'm standing, it sounds like a fair and equitable solution to everyone's problems.

-- Details on the trials and travails of this weekend if I have internet access when I get home. In other words, don't hold your breath.

-- There's no airconditioning in the shop today. Hasn't been all weekend, it feels like. I'm so glad I get to sit here and run these machines in sweltering 82 degree heat. That's exactly what I was looking forward to when I dragged myself out of bed this morning.

So, it's your fault because you're one of a group of people who want to use the service they're charging for? Yeah, sounds like it's time to call it quits. At the very least, this fucks with them like gangbusters - dropping a media company makes them simpering and apologetic and likely to beg you to come back (I still get love letters from Bellsouth), and going back after a couple weeks makes them all eager to please and opens you up to specials. Some people do this continuously, and save tons of money that way.

The problem with that scenario is that comcast has a monopoly on a large portion of Tuscaloosa, and I unfortunately happen to reside in that portion.

Understood. I'm telling you to go without for a short period of time. You seem to surf tons at work, and it ain't like you're getting the internet you're paying for at home anyways. At least, not enough to make it worth the financial transaction, with stress factored in.
