Which is how I ended up chatting with fermina for more than an hour Saturday. She's good people. Very smart, obviously, and very quick with the wit. It makes a good counterpoint to my own wit, which is much like an ox: powerful, but slow and plodding. Unless we're telling Your Mom jokes, which I admit without shame that I've raised to the level of art. Anyway, she has my stamp of approval, and I'm sure she's thrilled.
Most of the rest of the afternoon was taken up by research for construction methods and acquiring esoteric crap from eBay for the construction of the Secret Project, which will shock and awe the masses if I'm able to put the damn thing together. I took a research break to clean up my apartment and watch some of the stuff off the Fight Club extras disc. While I was doing this I realized I couldn't rattle the rules of Fight Club off the top of my head, which means I need to watch it again sometime soon, probably next week.
The apartment is clean and pretty organized now. Relatively speaking, it's really clean, and very organized. I've started setting up the toys again, and I've fulfilled a lifelong geek dream, with the Hulk and the Thing slugging it out on top of my entertainment center. Yeah, I'm a dork, and proud of it. I've got toys all over the place in my apartment. And not dolls, mofo, action figures. Recognize. In the immortal words of Jason Mewes, you just mad cause you ain't got none.
And speaking of dorks, Saturday night brought on a host of people I haven't seen in forever. Josh Black showed up at about 5, and not long after I got an out-of-the-blue invitation to dinner and video games over at Shelly and Craig's apartment, so I dragged him with me. We went with Poobie and Sarah, and met David and Andrea over there, and played War of the Monsters for three and a half hours. Amazing game. You can smack a giant moneky upside the head with an exploding gasoline tanker and watch him go flying through the air. In a city named Tsunopolis. If that's not enough to sell you on it, seek help. Went back to Poobie's house and hung out for a bit with Corley, Shane, Ashanti Motherfuckin' Roach and Wham-Bam-Bam Jeff Hamm. Good times.
Sunday, if such a thing is possible, was even better. Slept til 2:30 or thereabouts, cleaned up a bit, watched an episode of Buffy that I'd never seen before, and then went and had a four and a half hour Red Meat Sunday with Luke, Michelle, Shane, and the aforementioned Ashanti Motherfuckin' Roach. Now that I think about it, this was Roach's first time at RMS, but hopefully not his last.
Good friends, good food, good video games, good TV. That I can derive so much pleasure from so elementary of things makes me smile.
