"What new trade paperbacks can you recommend?"
Excellent question! I'm not reading much in the way of standard super-hero stuff these days, but what I am reading falls firmly into the category of "the classics". J. Michael Straczynski's run on The Amazing Spider-Man is top-notch. The storytelling loses a lot of its focus leading up to Spidey joining the Avengers, but before that is seven trades full of 100% awesome.
Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men is the best the X-Men's been since 1992. Maybe ever. There are three trades out, and if you haven't read them already, do it NOW.
As far as non-superhero stuff, I really don't think you can go wrong with anything with Brian K. Vaughan's name on it. Y: The Last Man is really, really good (currently there are 8 trades out), and Ex Machina is almost certainly the best comic currently being published. There are five Ex Machina trades so far; the newest one just came out last week.
I have more, but what I just dropped on you is twenty-three books worth. If that's not enough, let me know. Also, Hoops has my Spider-Man and Y:The Last Man trades. Feel free to obtain them from him at your leisure.
Our next two questions come from almost as long-time reader valsharess1, who wants to know:
"Is it hard being that sexy?"
"Will you teach me your brand of awesome?"
The answers to your questions, dear lady:
1) Baby, if it was easy, everybody would be doing it.
2) Sure thing. It's actually not that hard. Ready?
Be the person that it makes you happy to be, and not the person that everyone else expects you to be. And to the fullest extent of your ability, do not harm or by omission of action allow to be harmed anyone that you care about.
Also: Don't be afraid to tell anybody to suck it.
